Nature, Art, & Fairies!

Blue Emma Fairy at the Festival

Joyous to finally feel the warm crisp spring air, green under our feet, and sun shining on us!

The Fairie Festival at Spoutwood Farm is a highlight for us every May, as it marks the beginning of spending more time with nature. We tend to our garden and fairy home, plant seeds, watch flowers bloom, make works of art outdoors, find shapes in the clouds, listen to the croaking of the frogs, watch birds make their nests, and are just completely enchanted and connected with Mother Earth once again.

Sprinkling fairy dust from our favorite fairy, Posie the Fairy

At the Fairie Festival, Emma designed her own flower headdress and she receives many compliments for it. At the Goblin tea party, all the children could randomly choose a name, and the name she chose was Blue. Blue is her favorite color, coincidence or what? She was so happy! So now she is known as Blue Emma Fairy. Alexandra chose a mermaid tattoo and she surprised me because I did not know she loved mermaids so much. She says she is not a princess, not a fairy, but a mermaid! She is a water sign and born in water, so I could see the connection there!

The best part of this season is watching Emma and Alexandra laughing, connecting, and playing with other children as they celebrate finally being outside after the long and cold winter. We are definitely happier when the sun shines on us and the weather is pleasant enough to be outside. I really feel that the shinning sun, the blue sky and the green trees are healing to our body, mind and soul.

One of our favorite things to do is gather objects on our nature walks, such as leaves, rocks, sticks, grass, etc. and use them instead of paint brushes. These objects make interesting patterns and open our imagination as the shapes unfold. A plus of doing art projects outdoors is that it is easier to clean up and we just wash the work space with a garden hose when we are done, as the sun dries the painting.

I celebrate being one with nature, connecting with my children, being present these precious moments of our lives, watching my beautiful sweet precious girls grow and express themselves each in their own unique way. It is truly a blessing to be their mom and to share this life together.

Happy 5 years old in Bermuda!

Emma Sophia turned 5 years old in Bermuda and she said: " this is the best birthday ever!" She woke up covered in blue (her favorite color) balloons, we sang Happy Birthday to her, she opened her presents and then we all went out for breakfast. Afterwards we played Candy Land, listened to Katy Perry and had a pillow fight. We surprised her with her cake out on the balcony, sang Happy Birthday again, she blew out her candle and we all enjoyed the cake! Then we headed out to the beach and built sandcastles together. Emma thought it was the best birthday ever, and I felt like it was the best family day ever! So much joy to be present with each other, enjoying every moment, playing, dancing, creating, laughing, loving, hugging, kissing and cuddling!

Art is our Joy

Emma, Dada, Mama & Alexandra
Art work by 4 year old Emma
1 year old Alexandra trying out our homemade finger paint
versus store bought finger paint. Both are great!
Especially if you are painting outside naked!

Art is such a joyous fulfilling part of our life. My girls and I just love to create in so many ways. We all love photography, painting, cooking and baking, decorating cakes, creating our on art supplies, making designs, tattoos, gardening and home decor. Art is part of our being. The three of us going to an arts and crafts store is hazardous since we pretty much want everything in the store. We recently built a castle together and it was so much fun! It is so great to be able to create and learn as we grow together. As we do our art work we are present in the moment, and that is the best place to be. Especially when I have such amazing girls to be present with. I truly feel blessed to have them in my life and they are my reason for being and creating. I've said it before, they are my muses, and as they grow I love that they enjoy art as much as I do.
